Parents Reaching Out is committed to assisting the individual’s resolution of grief through mutual

help so that those suffering can lead healthier lives; and to developing, coordinating, and providing services and education that will facilitate the grieving process.

Parents Reaching Out, Inc. (PRO) operates as a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in the state of Alaska. PRO follows a set of by laws and is managed by a working board of directors.

There are 7 - 11 board members with a normal term of 3 years.  The Board meets at least 6 times/year, usually breaking for summer (June/July). 

Activities
  • Bi-monthly, non-fee, mutual-help support group
  • Quarterly newsletter for parents and professionals
  • Special events include:
    • Walk to Remember (August)
    • Forget-Me-Not Picnic (May)
    • Biennial Remember the Light multicultural memorial event
    • Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month (October)
    • Outreach and assistance for parents
    • Information and community resources
    • Educational and resource materials to professionals
    • Professional workshops and in-services
    • Community event participation
    • Baby fairs
    • Lending library
